Us.
We’ve lived in Highton for more than twenty years and can’t wait to share the little haven we have created with you.
Me (Jennifer) and my husband Kim absolutely love where we live, so setting up our apartment so we can share what Highton and its surrounds offers is something we’ve always wanted to do.
Your accommodation.
The River and the Owl is private and will provide you with fully self-contained accommodation.
The apartment comprises a spacious light-filled living/dining area, fully equipped kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and separate toilet. The large balcony affords a treetop view across the Barwon River valley to the inner Geelong suburbs that includes church spires, red brick chimneys from another era, and of course Kardinia Park.
We’ve given The River and The Owl a ‘step back in time’ feel with vintage furniture and decor, blended with present day creature comforts such as a smart tv, air conditioning and a dishwasher. We think you’ll feel right at home the moment you walk through the door.
The Story.
What’s the story behind the name?
The River is a reference to the Barwon River, which almost flows past our doorstep. We’re fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of the world and hope you enjoy the river experience as much as we do.
With our trees from time to time hosting Boobook Owls, and on a few occasions their young families, The Owl had to be a part of our name too. You might hear them calling to each other during the night.
